So, I am plugging along, I'm on chapter 23 page 307 out of 353. Very cool, I think this book could easily see 400 pages when all is said and done.
I had hoped to get the rough draft finished by the end of this month but that's looking increasingly unlikely. Not necessarily that I wont get it done, just that I may not get it done this week. Maybe next.
On a personal note I and the family are going to Sea World tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it. Everytime I suggested we go for the past 6 years they ended up flying to Florida instead. I stopped suggesting it to keep them from spending so much money! lol
I've also been arguing with my cous on the east coast. The little witch has a popular blog going called http://bossymoksie.wordpress.com/
She's funny and not quite serious but sounds deadly serious. Go figure. :)

300 pages!
Yesterday I crossed one of my favorite milestones, I passed a centennial page mark. Ayup, Ghost Station is really coming along. :) I'd say I'm a bit more then 3/4 done the rough draft.
I've also been tinkering with the cover art. I kept forgetting to post it here though. I'm working with Mechmaster (Happy belated B-day by the way!) to improve the scene. So far everything in the foreground is temporary still.
I am also working with him to see if I can Ghost in a scene or two behind the station scene. Maybe in the corners, though the Title and stuff will probably cover a lot of it. I was thinking a scene with the Dilgarth attacking the Admiral. Here is some texture tests of the Dilgarth.

Dilgarth are devolved Garthian's. They are normally sentient alien raptor predators. Feed them a diet of alien meat and they devolve though. A nice I mean nasty opponent for the Admiral to run into.

Ghost Station cover art wip2
I've been making slow but steady progress with writing the book and working on the cover art. I drudged up a lot of old models and the Anvil model from the Fool's Gold cover art and then played with it.
Here it is with basic lighting.
And here it is in the test scene.
I'm debating on playing with the station some more or moving on to the Kiev. I'm leaning heavily to the Kiev. :)

Passing of a friend
It's hard loosing a friend, even if it's once you've lost touch with over time. This morning a friend passed away. She was a year older then me and unfortunately I hadn't talked with her in over twenty years. I talk with her sister all the time, but Tracy and I never really hit it off.
It's tragic how she died, needlessly like that. She had just been released from the hospital last night too. I don't have the entire story, I doubt I ever will. I don't know if any of us can really understand it all.
Still, she will be missed, by her family and by her friends. Including lurkers like me.
Rest In Peace Tracy.
