Princess Rescue Inc!

I received PRI, Princess Rescue Inc from Mechmaster a bit over an hour ago. I've made the corrections he suggested, caught a couple bugs, and I've added the scene and page breaks.
In other words, trucking along, full steam ahead!
You may see me publishing this book by tomorrow.
Look for that cover this weekend. (It takes a day for Amazon and B&N to process the manuscript before publishing it)

Write up:

Eugene Ryans had it all. Money, fame, power. He had created a multibillion dollar company from almost nothing and turned Ryan's Future technology inc into one of the forefronts of technological innovation.
He had it all, yet he gambled it all on a crackpot idea that Earth had it's own wormhole.
He'd proven it too, and now he was in for the adventure of his life. No, he wasn't going to sit back and let others go in his stead, he was going to be on the forefront of this grand adventure.
To move mankind one step further closer to the stars.
He'd found adventure all right, all that and more as he found his team cut off, trapped in the middle of an invasion.
Princess Deidra and her younger Sister Zara were having a series of bad days. When the neighboring kingdom of Duluth suddenly invaded they found themselves on the front lines and swiftly in danger. But will the dashing Gaijin save them? Save them from the wilds of their world, the invaders, and more importantly, themselves?
Princess Deidra isn't so sure she wants to be saved!

This book was written around the time of New Dawn and the others. I sat on it, then did a rewrite early last year. Gord, Jacob, and Mechmaster each had a go at it, so hopefully the editing isn't going to bother the haters too much. (wishful thinking I know)

This, btw is NOT a sequel to Bootstrap Colony. That is coming later. (Way later) This is a stand alone book... for now. Though I did leave some threads in it for future sequels and prequels. :)
Think of it as a reboot of the basic Bootstrap adventure concept. I wrote it as 1 part what if, and 1 part dream scene I needed to get out of my head. lol

Oh, and for Adam:
This is the map I created for the book. :) I was going to improve it, but I thought I'd leave it for now. It's mostly legible.

-And I just checked, yes I created a bunch of simple maps for Bootstrap Colony years ago. Very simple maps. No I didn't create any for First Steps, though I did create the 3D model of the scene for the cover art. :) I'll look into posting both sometime... unless I forget. (feel free to nag me if I do forget)

Edit 9-6-2013: and it's live on Amazon! B&N to follow soon. (Out of my hands)

  1. Bless you kind sir! And like I did with that beast of a read Off Armageddon Reef series I shall print out door size version of that map and mark the happenings! I also like how you made your map look like an epic shark breaching to get a hunk of raw meat. Thanks again!

  3. Chris: Read the Book and it's good. I also read your sneak peak of Jethro, first to fight, I notice several errors, 1st How did they know the Admiral left Antigua since Lieandra was the second ship to leave the system before Admiral Irons decided to leave. 2nd, The defenses of Antigua should cover more than 1/4 of the Planet. In Ghost station, It only had a one weak point, so that meant over 7/8 coverage. But it can't cover the station. Although if they could bring it into orbit, they may. All for now. If you like me to be one of your beta readers I can be reach at Poonlyee@Yahoo.com

  4. The admiral gave Lieandra a care package along with orders and his intended plans before they left Antigua. Even before Lieandra was leaving he knew which way things were going or at least planned for that contingency.
As to the rest, well, you'll have to wait until J2 comes out. :)

Beta: I've got 8 or more people, but I always am up for more. We'll see. Right now I'm up to my ears in fighting with Daz to get the cover art done. (and not getting anywhere)

  5. Also just finished the book, and it is good, and leaves me with wanting a bit more :) As always :)
Very interesting in how to bring up an medieval world to modern standard and jumping a few hundred years in a couple of weeks.
Not just technical issues, but political, as well as finding raw material to work with :)
Perhaps a bit vauge on how many black smiths were working on the various new technologies. Must be a lot, as well as chemists etc.

Can't wait for next Jethro installment now also... not to mention next Wandering Engineer book also...

  6. lol
Brandon is 1/2 done J2, I think I'll let 1 or 2 more people have a go at it, so I'd better get cracking and finish the cover soon.

I've been shopping for more materials for the 13 degrees cover, and taking advantage of this cool spell to get some rendering done. As soon as both covers are done I will dive back into PB. (book 6)

  7. Halfway through the book and I am loving it. It's the first one I've read of yours, but your style is incredibly similar to another fav of mine, John Ringo.

I swear I even had to check google to see if you were him doing a book under a pen name, you even have Dogzards (Prince Roger series by John Ringo)!

  8. I am somewhat of a fan of John Ringo, I started with his Aldenata series. I got another friend (Mechmaster) into him, together we tried to make a 3D movie. We modeled all sorts of stuff, I built a render farm, but I ended up burning out a PC trying to render the posleen test shot. lol
John was amused. He also said I told you so.
Ben Singleton got us to do posters for John. Mechmaster did them, and Ben had them printed up and presented to John at a Con. One of his book covers sampled them. (without crediting Mechmaster) John and the artist apologized.
I've read tens of thousands of Sci-fi books, but I've gravitated to David Weber, Ringo, Campbell, Douglas/Keith Jr. But now that I am writing, I am finding my own voice. So, long story short, being compared to Ringo isn't so bad. :)

  9. Chris: An Idea for a future book in the series. Irons finds hundreds of military survival pods in an empty system. He also finds a Battlecruiser or Carrier or both to rebuilt and put them. He tries to reconsitute a Carrier Task Force. He finds a Captain or higher includes them in his plan to reestablish the Federation. Poon

  10. :)
The next oh, 10 books are all plotted out. Book 6 PB was in the works, I'll get back to it as soon as I finish the cover art for Jethro 2 and 13 Degrees of Separation. Hopefully by October 1 if not sooner. :)
Then the guys get a go at editing it, so you'll have to wait and see.
    Thanks for the ideas though...
