Twas the night before Christmas...

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Denubian mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The insiders were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of corrections danc'd in their heads,
And Dad in his boxers, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap -
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the curtains, and knocking something over with a crash,
The lights from the streetlights on the breast of the frost below,
Gave the luster of mid-day setting objects aglow;
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and nine robotic reindeer,
With a little ole driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than missiles, his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted and call'd them by name;
"Now Jory, now Jacob, now Gord and Darion;
On Poon, on Thomas, on Chris, on Robert and Brandon;
"To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
"Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
As as a toy helicopter they did fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of books, and St. Nicholas too:
And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound:
He was dress'd all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnish'd with ashes and soot;
A bundle of books was flung on his back,
And he look'd like a Tauren peddler just opening his pack:
His eyes - how they twinkled! His dimples: how merry,
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry;
His droll little mouth was drawn up in a smile,
and the beard of his chin was as white as the tile;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encicled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face, and a little round belly
That shook when he laugh'd, like a bowl full of T'clock jelly:
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a nod of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work,
And fill'd all the stockings; then turn'd with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.
He sprung to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew, like the down on a thistle:
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight -
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

    1. What, you know I'm a goofball, this shocks you how?
      I had something in mind for the past week and had to get it out of my head. Originally it was Darion had hyperspace calculations dancing in his head. I like this version better since it's all inclusive... and true. I've had complaints form people who go to bed with that happening. Including me. lol

      Darion and Poon just filled my inbox with PB stuff. We'll see what the weekend brings... If Family doesn't interfere. :P

      Happy Holidays!

  4. I wrote this yesterday under 13 Dregrees in November but most likely nobody will look there anymore.

    Short update. I send in the last chapter to Chris a minute ago for re-check. There is only one point left I will go over tomorrow as I think we speak alongside each other here.

    So if nothing big came up from Poon I think a release by 2013 is a clear possibility - except Chris has other pending matter (family etc) for the time being.

    From my side it looks good.

    And yes, when I come up with something like that mentioned by Chris above it gnaws and eats at my mind till I get crazy.

    As soon as I let myself drawn in there is no way out. I need to get it out of my mind by finding the reason for it.

    I need to get the flaw down and find a solution to it if possible.

    As I wrote above I am more or less ready for Chris to go. And yes for me it is the best book so far by big steps.

    I would write a little bit more normally but will upstain as a.) I would need to explain something I can't without going to deep into the book and b.) people are people and everybody likes different stuff.

  5. So at least - A Merry X-Mas to everybody.

    My part is now done - more or less. Now it is up to Chris what he is making out of the pieces I presented him with.

    1. Yup, I've spent the day setting up stuff and in between implanting your (and Poons) latest edits. Thank you!
      If nothing else crops up I'll work on the TOC, another spell check, any last minute things, and then get onto the conversion process...

  7. Well, I have probably checked this blog around 50 times in past week. I believe I was this excited last when Harry Potter was being released.

    1. Flatterer!
      I am no JK Rowling.
      You're doing wonders for my ego. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. lol
      I've worked my way through the corrections, I think it's like after Christmas Dinner, picking at the leftovers and little bits. lol Getting there though...

    2. No but once upon a time you would be a great mid-list writer with a rabid fan base

  9. So I send my *go for it* to Chris. At the moment there is nothing more we can do and yes I await the one or else point people will look weird but I really believe this book will earn its stars for real.

    As said before from my POV the best Chris has written so far and by looking into it we gave it that last lttle bit.
    Mostly all the I are doted and the T are crossed -- or how that goes.The rest is more likely personal preferences.

    On some stuff you really will be surprised I believe/hope. I am really asking myself how people will think about it or if they have a reaction at all, but I won't give it away. You will see it shortly.

    I send my last two mails to Chris and he is - as far as I understood it - ready, only the *go* from Poon to put on the last changes.
