TGS is publishing in 3...2...1...!

Yeah, that's right!
I checked my email and low and behold, there it was! Wow. I am having trouble getting B&N to upload the manuscript though. That might take a day or so. But it has been uploaded to Amazon.

About:

Admiral Irons is sheparding the new Federation along the best he can. The pirates are on the run for the moment, the political situation is starting to jell, the Bek nexus is back in the fold, and the military branches are finally hitting their stride.

But, when all seems to be normal, that is when you tend to lower your guard...

I'll post the links when they become available.
EDIT: Already up on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Gathering-Storm-New-Federation-Book-ebook/dp/B0754YZCNY/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1503757450&sr=1-1&keywords=the+gathering+storm+hechtl

I just got B&N sorted out. It should be up there in 72 hours.

I guess you'll have to meet Elvira on your own!

  1. The best yet in the series, like it a lot, a bit heavy on rapid technology advance oh Horath side but seems that everyone is doing this today
The E fighters " some of them are have a AMA reactor " - How?
Sprite was needed for key initialization before. Why and how not anymore?

    1. Thank you Dream Chaser, please post a review. Every little bit helps!

Rapid tech advance: It's exponential. They had been working on it with Vinatelli and others for centuries.

The E fighters: Yes, they need antimatter. There is a finite supply on the Horathian side, all scavenged over the centuries. That will come into discussion in the next book. :)

Sprite: Sprite was needed for key initialization as was Defender but both of them passed on the that to Protector who now resides in Admiral Irons implants.
I just left out the bit where Protector added his bits each time. :)
Also, Irons is the acting President so he now has special keys. I never did get into that... I had a story explaining it but it got tabled. Oops?

  2. Good to know about antimatter, interesting! Makes you wonder about the quantities that we are talking about, enough for a torpedo ?
The review is already there and on GoodReads
Regarding Vinatelli i have only now purchase the 13 degrees and there the story is different than in another of your book, don't remember right now.

    1. Hi,
Oh yeah, enough for a couple of torpedoes, but with the pirates they'd rather have the fighters over a couple dozen torpedoes.

      Review: Thank you.

Vinatelli: Yeah, that was an odd story. I was trying to illustrate how they could get around or not even bother with the replicators. After having a 3D printer I realized it's like a hammer. When you've got one in your hand everything looks like a nail. Many times you need a different tool. The same for replicators. I've tried to talk about that a little in the books recently.

  3. WOW! Loved this book! I can't wait for the next. I have to admit that I got some strange looks at the DMV when I started giggling like a kid when I saw that you used Mother in law and KTAALTGOSSTO. And pirate Captain Rick White, lol. But it was the DMV so people going mad while waiting is to be expected I guess. Well anyway, great job sir. I'm leaving a review on Amazon next. And thanks again for your time and hard work.

    1. Thanks Richard. :)
I've been having fun with names and stuff. What's more scary than a Mother-in-Law? Maybe one moving in with you? lol

  5. Yipe! Given the things I've seen with teenage females... yeah, I agree with Ringo. They should be raised in a barrel for sanity's sake. And kept very far away from places that would cost me money!

  6. Amen! lol. They give a fresh insight and deeper meaning to the fraise "I'm getting too old for this s@#t". lol

  7. Okay sorry I have not posted, I was on a business trip from hell.

I loved the book, maybe not the best ( that would ahve been Wandering Engineer for me, or Fools Gold) but I really felt like things moved along and plot points blended seamlessly. When going from one story arc to another it did not feel like you were missing or jumping but that the previous story arc paused at a good place and the move to the new one was natural.

I know you probably won't listen because it will change your plans. I really think you need to write the second book next. As you noted the book was shorter that you meant it to be and it really felt like part 1 of a book rather than one book. Then it will be 6-8 months before we get the second half with other stuff in the middle, not great. I really urge you to look at making a change to the writing order. You got so much left in the air with no completion or really pause. Think on it.

    1. Second book next? Are you talking about the next book in the main series or the second book of Shelby, Shiver Me Timbers?
I am waist deep into Semper Fidelis, sorry. After that I'm entering the holiday season so it is also short story territory only.
Shiver Me Timbers and The Turning Tide are scheduled for next year. When is up in the air, and in which order. Most likely SMT will be pushed further back since we haven't caught up to it in the main story.

It kinda stinks in that I'd wanted to start the Xeno war next year. Now that's up in the air and most likely getting pushed further back.

    2. I meant the next book in the main series as it will really be The Gathering Storm Part 2

    3. Hi Soren,
I agree with you suggestion 100% and wish that The Turning Tide was next in line, and your reasoning is solid i think.
But, if not i will wait and hope it's the first semester of 2018 and not the second one.
