A Piece of the Pi is publishing NOW!

Yup, Rea and Goodlifeguide pulled out all the stops and cleared the decks before the upcoming holiday. I just got it back from Goodlifeguide and immediately published it.

So, 4 stories of the Reborn Federation:

Hot off the virtual presses, four new short stories from the New Federation. In Hunter or Hunted, the crew of Io 11 and Fortuity explore the Pi sector, confident in their ships and crews. But which are they, hunter or prey?

Second up is Molly's Madness, where the crew of the good ship Molly finally gets a chance to strike out on their own in the southern loop of Rho sector. Third, You've got to have Faith; Faith Meikle has to deal with the headaches of running the growing ETMI shipyards in a place as dangerous and corrupt as Epsilon Triangula...

And finally, Off to War, a group of Spacebees are sent to Nuevo to update the army a few months before all hell breaks loose...

I will post the links here when they become available.

  2. Bought it but won't get to read it and leave a review until after I finish listening to Shogun. It's taken me 33 years of procrastination but I finally got around to reading it. Tried watching the miniseries three or four times as a kid and always ended up missing the last half. 53.5 hours! The guy's as bad as Tom Clancy. Lol.

    1. Thanks Richard.
I'm stalled on the BSC story and other stuff. I'm trying to make some progress today. We'll see if I can get MV3 back on track. My sister and the holidays are conspiring against me however!

  3. I know what you mean, I have two torments... err I mean sisters myself. I know just how much of a wrench they can throw into the best laid plans. Lol. I try doing anything around the holidays and get labeled as a disturber of the peace. All I did was show my nephews the fun that could be had with PVC pipe, dry-ice, WD40, matches, and a tennis ball! The cat's fur will grow back, the dog came down from the tree on his own, and the neighbors lawn was like that before we even started. Sisters! Who can understand em am I right?

  4. My unasked for advice is to not worry about it (The book that is, by all means take having to pee seriously) the book will come together when it comes together. Enjoy your life and drive your sister crazy like only a brother can we your loyal readers will be here waiting. Well then citizen, my work here is done! WOOOSHH!
(The crew in charge of my life's special visual effects department is from a cheesy 1940s radio show about a monkey (The monkey is my life's head writer). lol

  5. In one of your short stories you had an elf pilot an exoskeleton. It seems to me that that would be like (from the elf's perspective) piloting a giant mecha like say in Battletech or Macros. If that is so, could an elf marine operate a (for a human) full-size power armor suit? I mean with all that extra room a lot of extra power cells, ammunition, and or weapons could be installed. Just curious.

  6. Now I've gotten an image of an elephant marine in a power armor suit looking like a miniature AT-AT. I would not want to be a pirate and see that coming towards me shrugging off everything being thrown at it like rain off a turtles shell.

  7. Lol
Yeah, I had fun with that idea and I'll play with it more later. Like maybe an elf in a yellow E-frame battling a black alien? With a name like Ripley or something?

The AT-AT image has me in stitches. Elefander from Zoids?

My sister and her in-laws are driving us nuts. She complained about her in-laws getting stuff off their Xmas list that she got and then did the same. Dad's gnashing his teeth. lol

BTW, I sent MV3 to Rea last night. I managed to knock out the BSC story as well as the Federation Christmas story in record time. :)
We'll see if she can get it back to me, and if I can get it through Goodlifeguide before Christmas!

  8. (1) A pirate in a custom black power armor with a tail on it for an extra weapon? (2) In-law should be a four letter word. (3) Get dad some headphones and a collection of his fav movies to distract himself with and remind him that daughters are a treasure and as such should be boxed up, locked up, and hidden away out of sight. :) (4) YES! I'm about of books in my current reading list and was wondering what I would start in on, so here's hopping for a fast turnaround. Ah the holidays... the reason we are 7 times more likely to be murdered by a family member than a stranger. lol

More like an alien or a Xeno, dunno.

Dad: lol yeah, no, not going to work. He hasn't been into movies for the past 2 years for some reason. He's got several he hasn't even watched.

Daughters: yeah. She's past the teenage thing but does she act it? Only sometimes...

      Murder: ROFL

  9. I got it.. A short story from the First Federation about an Elf named Ripley in a yellow E-Frame battling the Zenos. Here's an idea for you to play with if you ever hit a wall. A book of short stories from the First Federation and the Zeno war, with the overarching theme being Irons and other Sleepers getting together with various people and each other and remembering the good and the bad from that time. Sort of like the Captains Table series of Star Trek books. Like Irons telling Jethro a funny story about a prank that Jethro's ancestor and the Cadre played on an obnoxious politician or officer. That sort of thing.

    1. Believe it or not, that has been in the schedule for years. Not the captain's table, but the Xeno war short stories. One of them explains a mystery from Ghosts from the Past...

  10. My only real concern about a book or books about the Zeno War is with how dark it would be. It could be a real road trip to the DMV, followed by a tax audit and ending with a root canal from a student dentist named Pennywise type of book. Just saying, It doesn't end well for most and even surviving the war isn't much a prize. IDK, But you write it and we'll buy it.

    1. ...But you write it and we'll buy it." Let's hope so.
Yeah, it'll be dark. I'm trying to figure out how to go about it without going nuts. I dunno about Pennywise. Definitely a dirge much like Weber's Starfire series when they were fighting the spiders initially.
But, again, that's a problem for another time. I just finished the first draft of the Pi map list, I've got my massive 3D print project drying (and hopefully not blowing away) in the back yard after a second coat of clear, and I've got a purring furball in my lap making typing fun.

    2. Maybe don't do it as a book at first but as a series of flashbacks from the Lemnos (Spell Check keeps trying spell it Limnos?) survivors and other sleepers. A flashback at the beginning and one at the end, maybe tied in to the overall theme of the main book. Like Admirals White, Subert, Irons, in the main stories and the sleepers in Bek with Logan and so on. That way you can get feedback and gauge how well it's being received by your readers and yourself.
